Eliminated but not forgotten, Food Hub’s newest contributor Kevin Perry introduces his Food Hub blog series.

Friends, I currently hold in my hand a rather large, wooden spoon, imprinted with an equally large letter ‘M’.

Though in sport, the ‘wooden spoon’ is a mock award given to the team who finishes last in their competition, in the kitchen it’s one of the most useful and versatile tools in creating amazing food – and I intend to use mine to help make stadium food great!

STADIUM GRUB - LET’S MAKE IT GREAT!
I entered the MasterChef competition with a very clear idea on what I wanted to achieve. Having left the Top 24 first was disappointing (I mean, come on!); however it doesn’t change the reasons why I chose to take part in the first place...

While I love food passionately, my path in food is not necessarily that of a chef, a B&B owner or a restaurateur. Having had time to reflect, I have indeed set out to combine my passions for sport and food, and to help enhance sporting stadium fans’ game day food experience as much as possible. This is MY food dream!

Since leaving the MasterChef kitchen, I’ve invested entire weekends into camping out in front of stadiums, and speaking to everyday fans as they’ve arrived on game day. I did this to validate that I’m not alone in my desire for a better stadium food experience. In a RESOUNDING chorus, you have told me that we share the same goal: the perfect pie, a better burger, gourmet grub served in the most convenient way possible so we can get back to our seats and enjoy the game. I’ve started an online campaign to give us all a united voice at Stadium Grub

SO, WHAT’S NEXT?
I’ve been quietly writing the first few chapters of my food journey since my eviction from the MasterChef Australia kitchen and can’t wait for you to be part of it. I’ll be contributing some “Big Kev” stuff to the MasterChef website over the next several months! I’ll be sharing with you some of my food adventures and recipe tips I’ve picked up on the way, how I’m progressing with my food dream, and my reaction and those of a collection of my mates to what’s happening in the competition!

It’s incredible how quickly I’ve gone from feeling like one of the contestants to, once again, a pure fan of watching Masterchef all over again!

I look forward to sharing the rest of MasterChef 2012 with you all - it’ll be a blast!

Stay tuned,
|
