Wade is a commercial labourer who would love to start again in the food industry. He passed up a secure job in the mines to pursue his MasterChef dream.

Wade has always been interested in learning more about what he is eating and is driven by seeing whether he can cook better than his Mum. He has been cooking since he was 12 and his first dish was a bruschetta.

“I started cooking in secret because I didn’t want any more chores to do!”

He hopes that MasterChef will help to refine his ambition - to have his own café with an emphasis on great seasonal produce. He also wants to be pushed out of his comfort zone and to give himself the best chance to change his life.

“I want to prove to myself that dreams are possible.”

Wade says his strengths are matching flavours and Asian cooking. Preparation, timing and presentation are weaknesses. His signature dish is a Penang fish curry.

“I am competitive but have a calm temperament under pressure.”

Wade has been in a relationship for just under a year - he says his girlfriend keeps him centred but also bakes amazing cakes!

Wade’s favourite foods are lamb shanks, pork and ribs - and fresh salads in the summer. “I like rustic, meat off the bone, messy food with big bold flavours.”

In his spare time, Wade likes to keep fit and play cricket.
