The Nando's Story
Nando’s is a story of friendship, passion, hard work and an absolute belief in the addictively delicious Portuguese PERi-PERi chicken.
In 1987, South of Johannesburg, an authentic flame grilled PERi-PERi chicken restaurant called Chickenland was discovered by two great friends Robert & Fernando. It was love at first taste! They took a leap of faith, quit their jobs and bought the Chickenland restaurant, changing its name to Nando’s. These two friends would take the best tasting chicken in the world from the unassuming suburb of Rosettenville to the world! Nando’s landed in Australia in 1990 and our popularity has seen us grow from 1 to over 271 restaurants!
Today there are 1000 Nando’s restaurants in 26 countries.

Nando’s is all about flavour and there’s something everyone can enjoy. Nando’s is not just hot and spicy. Our flavours have varied ingredients and heat levels including our lemon and herb and BBQ sauce which isn’t hot so if you don’t like hot food, you can still enjoy Nando’s.
