After an incredible finals week that saw the final six tangle with crustaceans, tackle a diabolical V8 cake and cook for the Governor-General (among other daunting tasks), it was Adam and Callum who were the last two contestants left standing.
They will do battle on Sunday night in the finale, which will see them cook as they never have before in a bid to win the title of Australia’s next MasterChef. The winner will also receive $100,000 to further their culinary dream; have the chance to train with some of the best chefs in the country and will publish their very own cookbook. Will it be Callum, the eager 20-year-old young buck from SA who takes the crown or cool, calm 31-year-old Tokyoite Adam? In the past week, both Callum and Adam have shown great form, putting up some fantastic dishes. Adam’s inventive eye and creativity came to the fore in the Iron Chef challenge with his twist on a Scotch Egg and he pushed himself in the mystery box challenge to put up two dishes that were certainly out of the box. Callum’s lemon and ginger brûlée tarts had Gary swooning after the mystery box challenge and his deft touch with all things sweet made his fondants a hit not only in the cookbook challenge, but also at Government House. Adam and Callum presented two great dishes which summed up their cookbook vision and as they cooked for the Governor-General and her guests, demonstrated great skill and technique, as well as a cool head and attitude in the kitchen. Hard workers and wonderful cooks, Callum and Adam’s talents have earned them a place in the finale – but who will take it over the line to become our next MasterChef? Show your support!
