Hi,
The final three for this year...Would you have picked them thirteen weeks ago? I don’t think I would have! For me, just standing at the finals last night and watching Adam and Callum fight it out for the title was moving!
On Thursday we saw the elimination of Claire in a splitting-hairs decision. She needed more help than the boys to get her main course dish out, and this cost her a place in the finale. To be honest, last week I really thought she would make it to the final two. Unfortunately, that was not meant to be. From my past experience, when you get to that stage of the competition it does not matter. The glory is hers and I know she will make it big in this food world! You can’t deny that Claire was a contestant who really made a mark on this show. A lot of people loved her for the elegant simplicity of her food and her intelligent, composed nature. A vocal minority disliked her and for some horrible reason seemed to feel okay about saying so all over the internet. But you were all talking about her one way or the other - and that means she’s got a bright future. Best of luck, Claire! I will be watching out for you.
Watching the two South Australian boys fight it out last night from backstage was gripping. I am so proud of both of them. Callum really amazed me with his chicken three ways. It was absolutely superb and so well done. You almost have to take a step back and remind yourself that he is only 20! To top the night off, George offered him a three month scholarship to work at his Melbourne restaurants and $10,000 for expenses. I spoke to Callum after this moment, and he is so excited about this. Just seeing his genuineness and his gratification was enough for me to both respect and really follow Callum’s future in the restaurant world. Well done, mate!
And then there was one! The MasterChef of 2010. Adam was completely blown away and so he should be. After nine months of filming, cooking, blood, sweat and tears, he finally was crowned the best amateur chef in Australia. I was so excited for him and just to see the reaction of his girlfriend and family was priceless.
Callum and Adam’s life will change forever. It is going to be a shock to start off with, as the real world that they know of will be completely flipped on its head. I’m excited to follow their paths and wish them both all the best.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to all the supporters of my blog this year. It’s been a great privilege to have my say and hear your thoughts. I will continue with blogs, recipes, interviews with chefs and tips and tricks in the kitchen at my Facebook page. Hope to see you there!
Justine
