Tonight's celebrity contestants were Australian cricketer, Simon Katich; author and performer, Wendy Harmer and fashion designer and TV presenter, Alex Perry.

They had 90 minutes to cook their signature dish. George and Gary were intrigued as to how Simon would fare because he has no sense of smell. When the cricketer served his herb crusted salmon with creamy mashed potato, Gary said the salmon was overcooked and needed to be in the oven two or three minutes less. George told Simon there was a nice freshness to the dish, however, and liked the texture of the herb crust.

Wendy served the judges her sauteed mustard rabbit with pear and spinach puree. Gary appreciated the honesty of the dish and George liked that Wendy had used rabbit, but told her to lose "the smear" of spinach puree.

Alex made spanakopita (cheese and spinach pie) with Greek salad and tzatziki. George told the fashion designer his spanakopita was beautiful but added he couldn't kiss his girlfriend now after tasting the garlic laden tzatziki.

Alex won the first round and had to choose from two pressure test dishes set by renowned cook and food writer, Stephanie Alexander. Alex nominated her lemon curd layer cake, which had ten layers of crepes, as the pressure test dish.

The contestants only had enough ingredients to make exactly ten crepes and 90 minutes to make the cake in its entirety. Wendy and Alex used their lifelines while making their crepes and Stephanie told them first of all to use the crepe pan they were supplied with instead of a regular frying pan.

Stephanie told Simon his lemon curd was too think and to whisk it again before resetting it. Alex's curd was also too runny, while Wendy realised she had only used one gelatine sheet for her cake topping instead of three.

Gary said Alex' cake was a good effort but his thin lemon curd meant the cake didn't have the bulk and sweetness it needed. Wendy's cake was also a little on the flat side and the topping had collected in a pool on the plate.

Matt said in terms of flavours, they were all there in Wendy's cake but it didn't look like Stephanie's example dish. Gary told Wendy her crepes were too thick.

George congratulated Simon on his "fantastic" crepes, while Matt said Simon's cake looked "pretty close" to Stephanie's, with clear seams of cream, crepe and lemon curd.

Simon won the pressure test and a place in the semi-finals.
