This week’s celebrity chef, Matt Moran, is the head chef and co-owner of Sydney’s famous ARIA restaurant.
Matt opened award-winning ARIA in 1999 with his friend and business partner, Peter Sullivan. The two already had two successful restaurants under their belt at the time; The Paddington Inn Bistro and Moran’s Restaurant and Café. Their next venture would become a true Sydney fine dining institution. Overlooking Sydney’s Opera House, ARIA has been awarded two Chef’s Hats by The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide on numerous occasions and it’s there that Matt practises his dedication to using the best seasonal produce available to create truly memorable meals. Growing up on a dairy farm in country NSW, Matt left school when he was 15 years old to begin his career as a chef. Working as an apprentice at La Belle Helene restaurant in Sydney, Matt learnt about classic French cuisine and took his first steps along the path that would see him become one of Australia’s best known chefs. As well as numerous television appearances, Matt has written an acclaimed cook book, Matt Moran and been part of the judging panel for the Vogue Entertaining & Travel Produce Awards.
