Aaron Harvie

Contestant MasterChef Australia 2010

Two years on from making his mark on Australian television by finishing in the Top 7 of the 2010 Masterchef series, Aaron Harvie continues to fuse his passion for food, film and music.

Hailed for his unorthodox methods on the Masterchef Australia Series 2, Aaron Harvie fast became known in lounge rooms across Australia as the Rock n’ Roll cook.

Those who saw Sydney band manager Aaron on MasterChef series 2 would know that his unique approach to cooking revolved around three specialties: Pasta, Mexican food and Rock ‘n Roll.  Again, for some this might have at first seemed a ridiculous notion, but it was one that distinguished Aaron from the other contestants in the minds of both judges and audiences.

Combining his love of music and food outside of the MasterChef house, Aaron has taken on the role of front man and Director of Food That Rocks; a Sydney based food and Entertainment Company.  He is in the pre-production stages of an international television series – Food That Rocks USA which will see Aaron explore and discover some of the most iconic places in America and the food and music that make up their very essence. Filming commences later this year. Add to this an executive producer position under his belt. Under the Food That Rocks banner, Aaron is also acting as an independent menu consultant for restaurants and venues in and around Sydney.

Aaron has since enjoyed TV appearances on the 7PM Project, Ready Steady Cook, The Morning Show and The Circle as well as countless national features and editorial, radio and online exposure including recipe features in magazines like Woman’s Day, OK Magazine, MasterChef Magazine and FHM. He has also been writing his widely read recipe based food blog Food That Rocks.

Aaron was also chosen to be an Australia Day Ambassador for 2011 and does work for several Charities including Room to Read, Giveability, the Brain Injury Awareness Week campaign Bangonabeanie, and Movember. Aaron has appeared across Australia in cooking demonstrations for Westfield, Coles, Latina Fresh and Old El Paso. Aaron’s recipes appear monthly in JB HI Fi’s magazine Stack as well as featured online and an iPad App. Recipes also included on South Africa’s largest food website Food24, as well as  MasterChef Australia Volume 2 Cookbook and Diabetes Australia cookbook featuring Australia’s finest chefs including Peter Gilmore, Tetsuya Wakuda, Kylie Kwong and Matt Moran.

With his plate full of Rock n' Roll goodness, Aaron’s long way to the top just got a whole lot shorter.
