It’s official! The Top 10 contestants of MasterChef 2010 are Callum, Matthew, Sharnee, Joanne, Aaron, Jonathan, Alvin, Claire, Marion and Adam. Callum Matthew Sharnee Joanne Aaron Jonathan Alvin Claire Marion Adam
Some contestants have escaped elimination by the skin of their teeth (some more than once!) and no doubt, there’s plenty more drama and twists and turns to come. Below is a quick snapshot of the Top 10’s highlight performances so far, but as we all know in the MasterChef kitchen, you’re only as good as your last dish!
Callum impressed the judges in the Japanese Invention Test with Tuna Tataki with Pickled Daikon, which led to Callum cooking off against pastry chef Phillippa Sibely and recreating her Caramel Parfait Glace with Salted Peanut Caramel and Milk Chocolate Mousse
Along with Aaron and Joanne, Matthew mastered the international invention test with a twist on Tacos featuring a jalapeno granita
A team captain in the challenge which saw the contestants cook for two families in their homes, Sharnee was calm, confident and supportive and has proved to be a consistent performer.
Winning the international invention test, Joanne joined Matthew and Aaron as they cooked against the team from Restaurant Arras, cooking their signature dish, Rack On Black
While his Fennel and Prawn Tortellini with Chipotle Truffle Oil won the pasta-themed invention test, it was a heart stopping moment for Aaron beforehand when Matt threw the dish on the floor! Aaron was also part of the winning Mexican team in the international invention test and teamed with Adam, topped the vegetarian efforts in the meat-free invention test.
Jonathan ‘The Eliminator’ has shown some formidable skills in elimination rounds and aced the Indian invention test with his Light Red Goat Curry with Three Flavour Frozen Yoghurt & Pappadum Praline
Alvin shined in the first challenge in the MasterChef kitchen when he cooked a dish which evoked his memories of childhood – Drunken Chicken with Bruised Snake Bean Salad.
Another consistent performer, Claire led her team to victory in The Press Club challenge and won a Mystery Box round with Steak and Smashed Potatoes with Pickled Cabbage and Mustard Butter.
Marion’s creativity has thrived in the mystery box challenges, first with her “Duck Duck Pig” hamburger and then with her Crumbed Brains. Her take on Modern Australian cuisine - Mango and Lychee Stack with Fish Sauce Caramel and Chilli Sugar - impressed the judges in the invention test. Cooking off against Frank Camorra (Bomba and Cornets with Chicken Liver Pate), Marion also won a coveted immunity pin which she used to evade an elimination round.
Adam has had a great week, winning the invention test with Aaron; a valuable immunity pin and leading his team to victory as captain in the molecular gastronomy challenge.
